What is Agriculture?
Agriculture or farming is a primary activity, a practice of cultivating plants and livestock. Agriculture is the science, art or practice of cultivating the soil, producing crops and raising livestock and in varying degrees the preparation and marketing of the resulting products.
Agriculture is the broad term for everything that everything that goes into growing crops and raising animals, to provide food and materials that people can use.
Why is it called agricultures?
The term agriculture is derived from two(2) Latin words ager or agri meaning soil and cultura, meaning cultivation. Agriculture is an applied science which encompasses all aspects of crop production including horticulture, livestock rearing, fisheries, forestry and many more.
What are the four (4) types of agriculture?
The four(4) types of agriculture is as follows:
1)Pastoralism- Is the type of farming that involves the herding of animals. 2)Shifting cultivation- Is the type of farming that involves rotation of crops. 3)Subsistence farming- Is the typed of farming involves the practice of growing crops and raising livestock sufficient only for one's own use, without any surplus for trade. 4)Intensive farming- It is the type of farming that focuses on increasing the input and the resultant output per unite of agricultural land. Its that type of farming whereby the owner farms not for his person use but to sell and make a profit.
